Shouldn’t Your Cutting Board Look Just as Good as Your Food?

Use and Care Instructions
Here is how to care for your one of a kind artisan cutting board. This is a beautiful and functional cutting board that is intended for everyday kitchen use. The board is polished with a mix of mineral oil and beeswax that makes the colors pop. Great care is taken selecting and working the wood when making your cutting board and we would love to have a picture of them in use!

These are hand crafted, made of all food safe materials and will give you decades of enjoyment if you follow a few simple rules.
Do:
- Hand wash with dishwashing soap and water
- Oil with mineral oil when the colors start to fade. Mineral oil is food safe and can be purchased at any drug or grocery store. Mineral oil can be used to preserve all of your wooden kitchen utensils. You can purchase specialty cutting board oils, but they are expensive and are basically just mineral oil. Avoid vegetable and olive oils because these can go rancid when used on the board.
Do Not:
- DO NOT allow to soak in water for more than a few minutes
- DO NOT wash in the dishwasher because this will damage the board.

It is normal for the cutting board to show knife marks and food stains as you use it over time. These don’t really do much damage to the board, but they will be unsightly after prolonged use. You can periodically sand the cutting board to remove the knife marks and stains. To sand the board, start with 120 grit paper and sand with the grain direction until the knife marks have been removed. Wet the board to raise the fresh grain. Allow to dry and then finish sand with 220 grit paper with the grain direction until smooth. Oil with mineral oil and enjoy the cutting board. I have cutting boards that are 10-20 years old that still look beautiful and work perfectly. Just follow the simple instructions above!

Warranty
Ava’s Woodshop cutting boards are warrantied for defects in materials and workmanship for 30 days from the date of delivery. Wood is a natural product and variations in color are part of the natural beauty of wood. The color of the board will change over time as the board is used and the wood ages. There will be some visible glue lines present on the board and these are a part of the handmade process.
